Realistic Expectations for Liposuction
It's important to have realistic expectations for liposuction, as the procedure alone is not the only solution for achieving your desired body shape.
Satisfaction Rates
Though no medical procedure is guaranteed to be 100 percent successful, liposuction satisfaction rates have been generally high.
In a U.S. survey, conducted by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health in 2006, 80 percent of liposuction recipients reported to be happy with their results after six months of recovery, while just 3 percent were not. Most of those surveyed had liposuction on their abdomens and hips, and 75 percent had liposuction on more than one area. Just 6 percent reported complications, the most common of complication was bruising.
A survey conducted the same year by the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas found similar results. 80 percent reported being happy with the procedure, and 86 percent said they’d recommend it to family and friends.
